We didn’t plan on making a “fairy collection.” It just happened one afternoon when one of the kids pointed at a drawing and said, “She looks like she could fly.”
And somehow that little comment turned into six fairies — all different, all a bit messy in their own way, but that’s what makes them real.
The pink one came first. She’s standing on a big flower, looking like she’s ready to tell a joke. Every time we show her to kids, they smile before they even say anything. I think it’s the wings — or maybe that cheeky face.
The green fairy was next. She feels like spring. We wanted her to look like the first warm day when you finally open the window and smell the air. The green sparkle ended up brighter than planned, but no one minded. It’s the kind of “too bright” that makes kids happy.
The blue-winged fairy took the longest to finish. We kept adjusting her colors — softer, lighter, calmer. She sits quietly, holding her wand, like she’s thinking about something nice. My daughter says she looks like “a bedtime fairy.” I think she’s right.
Then came the red one — bold, loud, always doing something. Her dress has that splash of summer in it. She looks like the type who would never sit still long enough to dry her paint. We love her for that.
The fifth one, the girl in pink with the tiny mouse on a string, wasn’t even planned. Someone doodled her late one night, and everyone decided she had to stay. She’s small, but kids always point and say, “Look! She has a pet!”
And the orange fairy — she’s the gentle one. She waters her little flowers like she’s taking care of her own garden. Every time we print her, she feels warmer, softer. Maybe it’s the color, maybe it’s just her face.
These six fairies are full of small stories. They remind us that play, color, and imagination don’t need to be perfect — they just need to feel alive.
